This is a recent project consisting of 13 calligraphic illustrations including cover for the LA411 source book.Catherine Vandercasteele is the art director. Background paintings are acrylics, water colors, pastels, and colored pencils and gold leaf on watercolor paper. Lettering and layout was designed so that each quote reflected the words or thought being expressed but carefully considered so that all pages related to the whole. The lettering was written with brushes and pens of all types, using gouache, casein and gold leaf and powdered gold.
