Let's address a few myths: we do not charge by the word or letter, and we do not print it out of the computer. ( we could if we wanted to, but it's not the same). What calligraphy & hand-lettering can evoke and communicate, the computer can not do…yet. A poster bought at the mall does not look like an original painting- if you think it does, then go for it. (Newsflash! TacoBell is not real mexican food either)
Amazingly, we have encountered people who have paid the same money to simulate calligraphy on the computer that they would have had to pay us, artists, to do it for real.

Commissioning work from Calligraphy Centre can be done by visiting our studio, phone or email. After the initial contact has been made we will (together with you), determine , your needs and consult where necessary. You may not have thought your idea out completely which is fine… we have helped many people to come up with the best way of saying what they want to say. We have ideas and have been doing this a long time.

We do custom work, which means that you are not limited to "standardized" layouts or paper sizes. It is best to talk to us about what you want to accomplish, and we can collaborate with you on the best approach.
After the business part is taken care of, you will see a sketch(es) and if you like, paper choice, before the final artwork is done. Our work is surprisingly affordable, but you will have to contact us to get a price quote as every job is different.

Here are some FAQ's and guidlines for you to consider:

Envelopes: For the best work, envelopes made of good paper is preferable. It is also advised that you order 15% extra for changes, mistakes, additions, etc. The list must be typed and should not contain abbreviations. More copy…

Certificates: The best way to proceed is to send us words and an approximate size. If you need to incorporate logos, seals, patents, etc, you will have to get us copies of those too. best to leave layout to us.

Poems & Quotes: Again, best that you not have too many preconceived ideas, although, we welcome your suggestions

We want you to be happy, and we will try real hard to make sure you are.
